2nd week - 5/27 - 6/02

The side-feeding works very well for us. We feel less exhausted and we get some kind of sleep.
We also tried the kangaroo sling, LIly was not too excited about it. But we will try again next week.

this morning at 5 AM I got showered in sweet little Lily poop and pee, very funny :)

the first days at home

... were so exhausting. We tried so hard to do it right: getting up at night to feed her, then change her, then walk around to get her back to sleep. We ended up being up almost all night for the first 2 nights, when I decided to just feed her in bed. Oh, what a difference. We all could sleep again, while the little one just ate away. Now it was so much easier, at least we could get some rest in between the feedings - which there were many. Every 2 hours I needed to turn around to nurse her (but we gave up on the night time diaper change). But she is just so adorable, we call her our little munchkin

bringing Lily home

The last 2 days in the hospital were very exhausting. Between the pain from the delivery and the excitement of the new baby there was just not a lot of time for sleep. Stuart was our super daddy and husband and took good care of both of us and stayed with us the whole time.
But now we are ready (well, kind of!) for bringing our daughter home.
We were both very nervous yet anxious to be alone with her. On this first day our dear friends Kristina, Andres and Xochi came by with some yummy food. It is good have friends :)

... and then there was Lily Sofia

Lily Sofia was born at 7 AM, after 5 1/2 hours of labor (and without the much anticipated epidural ). She weighed healthy 8 pounds and 3 oz, and was 21 inches long, with lots of black hair - just like her dad. Her birth was incredible and one of the moments in life we will never forget. Stuart got to cut the umbilical cord, and I got to hold and nurse her right after her birth. She is just the perfect little munchkin

How it all started

Lily Sofia was conceived in August - yup, I do know when it happened :)
She was the perfect little baby already in utero, I had no problems during the pregnancy at all(other than the 45 pounds of weight gain!).
Here are some pictures of my growing belly:

The official due date was May 7th, at least according to the doctors (according to my math it was more the 17th).
When there was still no sign of anything, I was scheduled for induction on May 19th. And just like that my water broke that morning at 6 AM, so we went to the Kaiser Hospital, around 11 AM, and then waited for things to progress. At 8 PM things haven't changed, and they put me on Pitocin.
